We carry many other sacred herbs and resins – from our Family and the many Relations across Turtle Island. These are used for smudging ceremonies, tributes for a Sacred Fire, gifts to Relations and as medicines (often in teas). We also have unique access to handmade jewellery using Semi-Precious stones and Sterling Silver custom beadwork and many other forms of rare art.
Sweetgrass:
(Hierochloe odorata) – One of the “Four Sacred Medicines” (Sage, Sweetgrass, Cedar, Tobacco – Lavender is sometimes added as the fifth!). Known as “The Sacred Hair of Mother Earth”, this long grass is very strong and hardy – growing places many others will not. The scent is unmistakable – many people will simply hang a Sweetgrass braid in their house to keep the air light and fresh; we’ve even seen it wrapped around a rear-view mirror in the car!.
Cedar:
(Cedrus) Another of the Sacred Plants, this may be the most resilient and adaptable plant on earth. Cedar can withstand harsh weather, rough soil, rocks, drought, saltwater…and still grow! An example of tenacity we could all learn from.
Copal:
The Spanish spent decades searching for gold in Central and South America…when it was literally right under their noses. Copal is the resin of Protium copal tree (family: Burseraceae) the name comes from the Nahuatl language word copalli, meaning “incense” and it has been used as such throughout Mesoamerica for generations. It is similar to it’s Eastern cousin, Frankincense, though somewhat lighter in scent.
Handmade Jewellery:
Our extended Family includes many fine craftspeople who work magic with precious metals, stones and crystals. From rare White Turquoise to hand hammered silver, these are traditions and skills that have been passed down for generations.
